ATHX New York 2027: Javits Hotels, Airport Transfers and Weekend Cost
ATHX New York is a West Side Manhattan trip: a hotel around Hudson Yards or Midtown West can turn competition morning into a straightforward walk, while an apparently cheaper room elsewhere needs its complete airport and Javits commute priced in.
1. ATHX New York 2027: dates, venue and entry prices
Date
Saturday 28 August 2027
Venue
Javits Convention Center, 655 W. 34th Street, Manhattan
Displayed entry
US$149 individual; US$269 per pair before checkout extras
Nearest subway anchor
34 St–Hudson Yards, on the 7 line
The Javits Center is a large complex, not one entrance. Follow the final athlete briefing for the actual hall and gate. The listing’s public 08:00–17:30 window is not your personal heat time or a guaranteed finish.

2. Choose entry and flights in the right order
Start with the official ATHX New York entry, then decide how much of the city weekend your group wants. Individual and pairs formats are listed across ATHX, Lite and Pro. Read the current 2027 standards and choose a division that matches your preparation. The race is on Saturday, so Friday arrival and Sunday departure is the compact version; a Thursday or Monday extension creates more room for long-distance arrivals and sightseeing without crowding the competition day.
🎟️ A pair costs US$269 in total
An equal split is US$134.50 per athlete, US$14.50 less than the US$149 individual line before checkout extras. Give one person responsibility for the pair purchase and verify both names, division and heat. A travel booking and a competition entry can have different cancellation rules; keep their terms separately.
✈️ Do not land just before check-in
A Saturday flight delay is a poor way to lose an entry. Arrive the previous day at a minimum, and consider another night if crossing several time zones. Book the return with time for checkout, bags and the airport journey, rather than assuming Sunday is available for an unlimited sightseeing schedule.
👀 Supporters should choose their own daytime plan
Check spectator admission separately instead of assuming the athlete entry covers friends. Share the hall gate and reunion point. Someone who wants a museum morning can meet the athlete later, while a dedicated supporter can follow the event without being responsible for coordinating every other traveler.
3. Where to stay: Hudson Yards, Midtown West or a cheaper commute
For a short athlete weekend, shortlist Hudson Yards and the western part of Midtown before expanding the map. Compare a genuine twin or two-bed room, the complete payable total, breakfast and the cancellation deadline. A Manhattan room may look expensive but remove repeated rides and make separate finish times easier. A hotel outside the area can still work when the saving is substantial and its first-morning route is reliable; calculate that benefit for the actual number of travelers and nights.
🏨 Courtyard New York Manhattan/Midtown West
This is a named nearby option whose official location information identifies Hudson Yards and Javits among its local destinations. Compare the final athlete-gate walk and room configuration. A view upgrade is optional; the useful features are workable beds, a quiet enough room, breakfast arrangements and a simple route to the event.
🛏️ Courtyard New York Manhattan/Times Square West
This is a different property, farther into the Midtown area. Its official listing also places it near Penn Station and the West Side sights. Do not confuse the two Courtyards when comparing prices or sharing an address. Map the actual route and consider whether that additional walk is comfortable after competing.
🚇 A station connection can beat a famous neighborhood
A base with a useful 7-line journey may work better than a nominally central room requiring several transfers. Check weekend service and the station walk. If a room is cheaper because it is far from transit, include a realistic taxi fallback rather than assuming every friend will tolerate a long return late at night.
4. JFK, LaGuardia or Newark: compare the complete arrival
Search the flight, baggage allowance, terminal and ground transfer together. JFK and LaGuardia offer different transit routes into Manhattan, and Newark needs its own New Jersey airport plan. The lowest airfare can lose its advantage after a costly late transfer or an extra hotel night. Friends arriving separately can normally meet at the hotel instead of waiting at an airport for several hours. Share the exact hotel name, address and reservation holder so everyone can travel independently if delayed.
🚆 JFK: AirTrain plus subway or LIRR
MTA currently lists a US$8.75 AirTrain charge on top of subway or rail. The subway-and-AirTrain combination is US$11.75 for most riders, while LIRR pricing varies. Those are October 2026 benchmarks, not promised August 2027 fares. For a West Side hotel, compare the complete journey via Jamaica and the last walk from the Manhattan station.
🚌 LaGuardia: the free Q70 is only part of the route
MTA identifies subway or LIRR connections to the Q70 LaGuardia Link. The Q70 is free and serves terminals B and C; Terminal A needs the airport shuttle connection. The onward rail or subway is a separate fare. Check the actual landing terminal before choosing a route from a generic airport pin.
🚕 A road transfer needs a real quote
Specify the hotel, passengers and bags before dividing a taxi or transfer estimate. Include applicable tolls and other quoted charges. If choosing Newark, use its current airport and operator guidance for the terminal-to-Manhattan journey rather than copying the JFK instructions. A low fare is useful only when the late-arrival fallback also fits the budget.
5. Getting to Javits without a race-morning surprise
The organizer identifies 34 St–Hudson Yards on the 7 line as the main subway approach. It is a useful station anchor, while the correct hall entrance still comes from the ATHX briefing. A nearby hotel can make walking simpler than waiting for a short subway or car ride. Save the route before the event morning and allow for breakfast, crossings, the indoor walk and the required check-in margin. Do not use the building’s nearest corner as a promise of arrival at the athlete desk.
📍 Check the gate and reunion point
Share one athlete entrance and a separate easy-to-find supporter meetup. Large convention buildings can make two people at the same street address surprisingly far apart. Save the briefing offline and keep a second contact in the group plan if mobile service becomes slow.
🎫 Use the current fare and service information
MTA’s current regular subway and local-bus fare is US$3 for most riders, with contactless payment available. Use the same eligible payment method consistently when following the operator’s fare rules. Recheck 2027 pricing and the weekend’s service notices; an ordinary weekday map does not establish Saturday service.
🚗 A rental car is rarely the first solution here
Before renting, price hotel parking, venue-area parking and the practical pickup. The organizer names a nearby parking option, but availability and charges need checking for the actual event. A car used mainly for a short Manhattan venue journey can add several expenses while leaving the group exposed to traffic.
6. A three-night New York itinerary for 27–30 August
Friday arrival, Saturday competition, Sunday city time and Monday departure give friends a workable three-night plan. Thursday-to-Sunday can suit an earlier arrival instead, but keep the final day modest if flying home. Use the West Side for the first evening and the event day, then choose one different city area for the free day. A full-city checklist is not necessary to make the trip worthwhile, especially when some friends are athletes and others are enjoying a first New York visit.
📆 Friday: check in and prepare locally
Find the venue approach, buy familiar breakfast supplies if needed and choose a local meal. A short Hudson Yards or nearby riverside walk is enough after travel. Keep any later nightlife independent so the athlete does not need to negotiate the group’s return while trying to sleep.
🏋️ Saturday: heat, hotel and dinner
Let the entry confirmation set the fixed arrival. Allow room afterward for changing, food and a return to the hotel. Supporters can choose a short local outing around the sessions they attend. Make the celebratory meal late enough for the slowest relevant finish, with a simple fallback if the athlete wants something easier.
🏙️ Sunday: one neighborhood route
The High Line and Chelsea make a natural West Side outing. Alternatively choose Central Park and one nearby indoor visit, checking admission and opening conditions for any paid attraction. Avoid joining both into a long compulsory march. Save Monday for checkout and the correct airport transfer rather than another timed attraction.
7. Food, a group dinner and the costs beyond the menu
Friedman’s lists its Hudson Yards location at 450 Tenth Avenue and offers a reservation route. That gives the group a named local option to compare without adding a cross-city transfer immediately after competing. Use the current menu and actual table conditions, including dietary needs. Before the event, familiar food close to the hotel is more useful than chasing a social-media restaurant queue. For the celebration, share a likely complete spend rather than only the price of a main course.
🍽️ Reserve for the actual group size
A normal table booking may not cover a large party or split arrivals. Ask about the applicable group arrangement and deposit before committing. Leave enough margin after the last athlete and agree whether people can choose cheaper dishes or skip expensive drinks without joining an equal premium bill.
🧾 Allow for tax and gratuity
A displayed menu amount is not necessarily the final payment. Read any automatic service charge before adding more, and include tax and expected tipping when setting the meal allowance. Keep personal drinks separate when spending differs significantly.
🥣 Breakfast needs a time as well as a price
Check the hotel’s Saturday service hours. An included breakfast is not useful if the athlete leaves before it starts. Arrange a familiar alternative the evening before, while friends who want a later brunch can eat independently and meet after the event.
8. What an ATHX New York weekend could cost
The three-night model below totals US$829–1,369 per individual athlete before flights or long-distance rail, with two people sharing a room. Hotel and meal allowances include room-charge/tax and dining tax/tip assumptions, respectively. These are planning estimates, not August 2027 quotes. A solo room, premium dining, several paid observation decks or repeated private transfers will need their own additions. Replace the model with final payable amounts before booking.
| Cost item | Per-person allowance |
|---|---|
| Individual entry | US$149 |
| Three-night hotel share, tax/fee allowance included | US$360–630 |
| Meals, tax/tip allowance included | US$150–240 |
| Airport and local transport | US$50–110 |
| Optional outing | US$30–70 |
| Contingency and checkout-fee reserve | US$90–170 |
| Total before flights or intercity travel | US$829–1,369 |
🧮 Know the accommodation assumption
A final room total of roughly US$240–420 per night produces a three-night share of US$360–630 each. Compare real beds and all mandatory charges. Refundable card authorizations at check-in affect available funds but are not the same thing as a nonrefundable room expense.
🎟️ Adjust the entry line correctly
An equal pair share reduces this individual model by US$14.50, to US$814.50–1,354.50 each before extras. Supporters remove the athlete fee and add actual spectator admission. Optional sightseeing belongs to the people choosing it; the whole group need not fund every attraction.
📱 Choose together, then assign booking owners
In FlowTrip, compare two complete hotel options with the venue walk and airport routes visible. Store the selected heat, arrival details, hall entrance and shared meal. Record who paid and the repayment date so the friend making reservations does not unintentionally fund the entire weekend.
