Euro 2028 Trip Cost: Match Tickets, Hotels and Travel Between Host Cities

No credible Euro 2028 trip total can include an official regular match-ticket price yet: UEFA says prices arrive in autumn 2027. The useful decision today is how much your group can risk on flexible hotels and travel, and whether a one-city weekend or a three-city week fits everyone’s ceiling.

1. Quick facts

Regular tickets

Prices not published; UEFA plans announcement autumn 2027

Sale

After the expected December 2027 final draw

Event dates

9 June–9 July 2028, eight cities and nine venues

Budget method

Room + city transport + intercity travel + food + contingency; ticket pot separate

Every figure below is an illustrative per-person planning allowance for future travel, not an October 2026 bookable quote for June or July 2028. Compare live refundable room terms and real fares for your group before paying; finals week and single rooms can be much higher.

2. Tickets: the biggest unknown is still unknown

🎟️ What UEFA has actually announced

UEFA expects about three million tickets, with more than 40% in affordable categories, no dynamic pricing for regular tickets, a public ballot and official face-value resale. It says prices and full details will be announced in autumn 2027, followed by sales after the expected December 2027 final draw. Neither a blogger nor a reseller can currently give your group an official regular-ticket band for a specific 2028 fixture.

👥 A ballot is not a group allocation guarantee

Four friends applying for the same match may not all receive the same category or any ticket. Decide whether the weekend still works if only two people get in, and read UEFA’s eventual household and application rules before coordinating submissions. Keep your hotel refundable through the decision window where possible, rather than purchasing flights because a provisional match slot appears in the calendar.

🔁 Know what resale will mean

UEFA says its official platform will permit face-value resale and that outside-platform resale will not be authorized. That creates a route for genuine changes of plan, not a guaranteed way to source four seats later. Avoid paying a “booking deposit” on an unofficial ticket with no verified allocation. Hospitality packages are separate and can be priced differently from regular seats.

🧾 Set an independent ticket ceiling

Ask each friend for a maximum per match and number of matches, then keep the resulting pot outside the travel total. For example, if your personal ceiling is £150 a game for two games, reserve £300 as a private decision limit, not an asserted UEFA price. If the official category exceeds it or the ballot fails, shorten the stay or keep a city-break fallback.

Put the venue, ticket application holder, hotel cancellation deadline and matchday meeting point in one shared plan. A confirmed stadium date still does not confirm your team or tickets.

3. Hotel cost: convert rooms to a fair per-person number

🏨 The twin-share equation

For a three-night British-city weekend, an illustrative £150–£340 room per night is £450–£1,020 for the room, or £225–£510 per person if two share. This is a planning range, not a live 2028 rate. The same room at £260 nightly for four nights becomes £520 per person. Show both room count and total nights in your group sheet so a tempting nightly price does not hide the actual commitment.

🌆 Match city and date change the room market

Cardiff’s opener on 9 June and Wembley’s final on 9 July may create very different demand from a group match in another city. London also has two venues with different useful bases. Dublin hotel costs are in euros, not pounds. Compare a central room with a farther one using the all-in late transport cost; a nominally cheaper room may require taxis every match night.

🛏️ Check configuration and cancellation

Three twins for six friends usually cost more than squeezing six into two nominal family rooms but provide predictable sleeping arrangements. Confirm taxes, breakfast, prepayment, cancellation deadline and whether the rate changes when a guest leaves. If the ticket result comes after the free-cancellation deadline, the room is effectively a bet on the ballot; state that exposure before anyone pays.

🧳 One hotel base saves more than money

Manchester and Liverpool have adjacent early fixture dates and a manageable daytime rail link, while two London venues can be reached from one well-connected base. A hotel move costs luggage time and perhaps a lost sightseeing day. For a seven-night route, price two- and three-base versions before deciding that another city automatically adds more value.

4. Transport: local, intercity and airport

🚇 Local transit is a separate line item

A weekend with one stadium match can need airport transfers, daily city trips and a post-match route. Allow an illustrative £35–£85 per person in a British city, or €20–€60 in Dublin, depending on arrivals and hotel location. These are reserves, not 2028 operator fares. Wembley has multiple stations, Tottenham four, Hampden uses suburban rail and Dublin Arena uses Lansdowne Road DART on ordinary service.

🚆 Rail works for British clusters

Manchester–Liverpool, London–Cardiff and Liverpool–Glasgow are possible rail-led combinations. The price depends on booking window, departure and flexibility; do not put one “UK train” number in a multi-city budget. Add seat reservation and baggage comfort when comparing. Allow a full transfer day when the move is long and check the event exit before buying a late train after a match.

✈️ Dublin creates a distinct travel leg

There is no direct train from Glasgow or Liverpool to Dublin. Compare a flight with ferry-and-rail if you genuinely want the slower route. A low fare can grow after bags, airport transport and another hotel night. For a seven-night England–Scotland–Ireland week, allow an illustrative £150–£330 equivalent for all intercity travel, then replace it with real quotes when they open.

🛬 Home-country travel should not disappear

Long-haul flights can dwarf local transport, while travelers already in Britain or Ireland have a different total. Show the base trip excluding home-airport travel, then add each friend’s actual return fare individually. If someone arrives late and misses a shared first night, agree whether room splitting changes; do not distribute one person’s expensive airfare among all six.

5. Two example totals, with arithmetic exposed

🧮 Three-night British-city weekend

Twin-share room £225–£510, local/airport transport £35–£85, three days of meals £105–£195 and contingency/attractions £35–£95 sum to £400–£885 per person. This excludes a long-distance arrival, match ticket and discretionary nightlife. A single room can add most of the twin-share room cost again; a final-week Wembley stay can exceed the model.

🧮 Seven-night three-city week

Twin-share rooms £500–£900, intercity rail plus cross-sea flight £150–£330, local/airport transport £60–£130, food £210–£350 and contingency £75–£175 sum to £995–£1,885 equivalent per person. It excludes home flights and tickets. Dublin charges euros: convert only at the rate you actually pay, and keep its booking total in euros until settlement.

€ Dublin two-night alternative

An illustrative Dublin weekend is €170–€350 twin-share accommodation, €20–€60 airport and city transport, €80–€150 food and €30–€75 contingency: €300–€635 before flights and match tickets. Keeping euros in the original quote avoids a falsely exact pound comparison. A walkable Ballsbridge hotel can be worth a premium if post-game DART access changes.

📊 Stress-test a bad outcome

For each option, record the refund amount if tickets fail, if one friend drops out and if a transfer is missed. A £700 fully refundable hotel hold is less risky than a £550 prepaid stay that forces the group to travel regardless of the ballot. Put the date cash becomes irrecoverable beside the amount, not buried in an email confirmation.

6. How to book without overpaying

✅ Before the draw: reserve only flexible assets

Choose venue-date clusters from UEFA’s fixture list, agree the group budget ceiling and hold cancellable rooms. Note three decision deadlines: free hotel cancellation, ticket ballot result and cheapest sensible rail/air booking window. Do not treat a stadium date as proof your national team will appear there.

🗓️ After the draw: reprice the actual route

Once teams and kickoffs are known, compare one-city and multi-city totals again. A neutral match may still be fun, but following a named team across venues can involve unplanned transfers. Ask whether a cheaper city and an extra match is worth more to the group than a marquee Wembley date. Reconcile room quotes, currency and cancellation policies.

👥 Split shared deposits transparently

Only hotel rooms and transport everyone approved should be shared equally. Match tickets belong to the people who obtain them, unless the group explicitly buys and settles together under UEFA’s rules. Keep food and optional activities personal. One clear spreadsheet or shared trip ledger prevents the organizer from floating the group’s deposits and chasing five separate refunds.

🔎 Review the official sources near travel

UEFA ticket rules, rail schedules, local fares and stadium event plans may change before 2028. Revisit operator pages before each nonrefundable purchase. The point of today’s model is a decision-ready ceiling and a booking order, not a forecast that pretends the future price of a Wembley final hotel is already known.
