How to Plan a Trip to the FIFA World Cup 2030 in Spain, Portugal and Morocco

The 2030 World Cup spans Spain, Portugal and Morocco, but no fan can sensibly book three countries around a team yet: choose a flexible city cluster first and anchor the trip to actual matches when FIFA publishes the schedule.

1. Quick facts and the first decision

Main hosts

Spain, Portugal and Morocco

Centenary matches

One each in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay

Main opening window

13–14 June 2030; final planned for 21 July 2030

Best first decision

One country or two nearby cities, with refundable lodging

FIFA has named the host countries and broad tournament dates, while Spain’s stadium selection remained open in 2026. The candidate venues, match assignments, ticket prices and spectator transport must not be treated as confirmed bookings.

2. Decide whether you are following a team or choosing a city

A team-following trip cannot have a fixed route until the draw and match allocations. A city-first trip is easier to prepare: pick Madrid and Barcelona, Lisbon and Porto, or Morocco’s Casablanca–Rabat–Tangier rail corridor. Madrid and Barcelona each have two stadiums in Spain’s 2024 bid list; Portugal’s candidature names two Lisbon venues and Porto’s Dragão. These are planning anchors, not a guarantee of specific national teams.

🏟️ Madrid and Barcelona

Madrid’s candidate Bernabéu and Metropolitano are in different parts of town; Barcelona’s Camp Nou and RCDE Stadium are also distinct trips. A single hotel by Sol or Sants is a city base, not a promise of walking to every match.

🇵🇹 Lisbon and Porto

The Portuguese federation identifies Estádio da Luz and Alvalade in Lisbon and Estádio do Dragão in Porto. The two-city pattern avoids a flight and keeps a straightforward rail corridor; verify CP schedules and match-day access once allocations exist.

🇲🇦 Morocco’s north-west corridor

Morocco has proposed venues in Tangier, Rabat and Casablanca, among others. ONCF’s Al Boraq links those three cities. Marrakech, Agadir and Fès require separate route planning rather than assuming the same high-speed train stops at every stadium.

3. Build the ticket plan without inventing tickets

As of 12 October 2026, FIFA has not published a 2030 match-by-city schedule or general ticket price list. Use only FIFA’s eventual official ticket portal and do not pay a broker for a supposedly guaranteed team match, final seat or hospitality allocation. Your group can still agree a maximum all-in ticket price, preferred stage and number of matches before any sale.

🎟️ Set three acceptable outcomes

Plan A is the team and city you want; Plan B is another game in the same city; Plan C is a fan trip with no match ticket. A refundable hotel in a pleasant city can survive Plan B or C.

👥 Buy together when seats matter

Choose one authorized buyer per match and agree how many seats, the ceiling including fees, and whether the group accepts split blocks. Nobody should improvise an expensive checkout decision for absent friends.

🔎 Check what is actually on sale

Host-city candidate news, packages and resale adverts are not the same as FIFA’s public ticket inventory. Save links to FIFA’s own site and verify payment and transfer rules when released.

4. Pick a route that works even without a fixture list

For a ten-night trip, two bases are usually enough. Madrid for five nights and Barcelona for five gives separate candidate venue clusters with high-speed rail between. Lisbon for four and Porto for four works for a shorter Portugal trip. A Morocco option is three nights Tangier, three Rabat and four Casablanca, using Al Boraq. Only add a second country when the actual match dates justify the lost travel day.

🚆 Spain: rail between cities

Renfe sells high-speed services from Madrid Puerta de Atocha to Barcelona Sants and to Sevilla and Málaga. Compare operators, station location, baggage rules and a buffer after a match; do not assume an overnight train will wait for extra time or penalties.

✈️ Cross-border days are full days

Spain–Morocco and Portugal–Morocco moves involve an international flight or a more complex ferry and ground journey. Check passport and entry requirements for every traveler, plus the real door-to-door transfer.

🧭 Stay near the transport spine

Hotel Regina by Sol or NH Collection Madrid Gran Vía is useful for central Madrid; My Story Hotel Rossio for Lisbon; in Barcelona consider a Sants or Les Corts base. Compare the trip from airport and station as well as to a candidate stadium.

5. Make match days different from transfer days

Arrive at least one day before a paid match. On match day, allow a generous journey, a ticket-specific gate and post-match crowd time; save the way back before entering the stadium. The next day can be a train or sightseeing day. This is especially important when a group wants both Madrid and Barcelona or a cross-border sequence.

🚇 Madrid candidate grounds

The Bernabéu has a Line 10 metro station, though construction or event operations can change access. Estadio Metropolitano is on Line 7. Do not confuse the two stadium routes or book a hotel solely by “Madrid stadium.”

🚇 Barcelona candidate grounds

TMB currently points Camp Nou visitors to Collblanc or Palau Reial; RCDE Stadium’s club lists Cornellà Centre on L5. Recheck the exact 2030 perimeter and gate.

🗳️ One optional group activity

Use the non-match afternoon for Retiro and tapas in Madrid, the waterfront in Porto, or a medina walk in Rabat. Keep it flexible if the ticket’s kickoff or city changes.

6. An honest per-person starting budget

For ten nights with two sharing a room, an illustrative €150–€260 per-room nightly range becomes €750–€1,300 per person before taxes. Eleven days of food at €40–€70 yields €440–€770. Allow €150–€350 for intercity transport, €80–€150 for local transport and €150–€250 contingency: the non-ticket, non-flight total is €1,570–€2,820 per person. This is a planning scenario, not a 2030 quote.

💶 What is excluded

Add match tickets, flights, lodging taxes and any visa or insurance costs after getting actual quotes. A premium final or multiple flights can dominate the entire estimate.

🏨 Hotel arithmetic first

Two rooms at €200 each for ten nights cost four friends €4,000, or €1,000 each before tax. If one friend wants a private room, agree on a different split before paying.

📋 Track deadlines

List booking owner, refundable-until date, due date and the agreed fallback if a match is in another city. Keep personal match tickets separate from common hotel costs.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the 2030 World Cup?

Spain, Portugal and Morocco are the main hosts; Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay each hold a centenary celebration match.

When is the 2030 World Cup?

FIFA places centenary matches on 8–9 June, main opening matches on 13–14 June and the final on 21 July 2030. Exact city fixtures remain pending.

Are the 2030 match tickets on sale?

Do not infer availability from travel listings. Check FIFA’s official ticketing announcements for the public sales calendar and prices.

Should I book three countries now?

A one-country or two-city refundable plan is less exposed to later match assignments. Add countries only when the confirmed fixtures fit your group.
