FIFA World Cup 2030 Trip Cost: Tickets, Hotels, Transport and Food
A World Cup 2030 budget becomes useful when you choose the trip length and number of hotel bases first: a week in one country is a different purchase from following a team across Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
1. World Cup 2030 budget: what these estimates include
Main hosts
Morocco, Portugal and Spain
Budget unit
Per person, seven hotel nights, two adults sharing a room
Illustrative local budget
€530–1,520 across the three examples, before match tickets and international travel
Ticket handling
Add the actual official ticket basket separately when available
Research checked 20 October 2026. The figures below are editable spending assumptions, not official 2030 packages, ticket prices or bookable hotel quotes. No verified 2030 general-admission price grid is used. Candidate cities and hotel examples do not guarantee a particular fixture or stadium allocation.

2. What belongs in your World Cup budget
Use one sheet or shared trip budget with separate lines for match tickets, accommodation, international travel, domestic travel, meals, sightseeing and contingency. FIFA appointed Morocco, Portugal and Spain as the main hosts, with one centenary celebration match in each of Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Attending a South American match would require a separate long-haul decision; it is not an inexpensive add-on to an Iberian or Moroccan week. Choose what the group actually wants before comparing apparently attractive total-package prices.
🎟️ Keep ticket cost as an explicit unknown
Start with the actual number and type of matches you want, then add the official checkout total when a relevant product is available. Do not import a 2026 price tier, resale listing or hospitality minimum as a 2030 face-value prediction. A ticket budget ceiling is your spending limit, not evidence that seats will be available for that amount.
🛏️ Count nights and beds correctly
Seven nights in a room costing €180 a night means €1,260 for the room, or €630 each for two sharing. It does not mean €180 per person. A third friend cannot simply divide that room by three unless the hotel allows that occupancy and provides suitable beds at the same total price.
🧳 Include the journeys around the headline flight
Add baggage, airport connections, the arrival-night room and the final transfer. An inexpensive flight that lands too late for the chosen rail connection may require a taxi or another night. Keep these additions beside the airfare so a group vote compares complete journeys.
3. Seven-night cost examples: Spain, Portugal and Morocco
The comparison below uses seven nights, two people sharing, casual meals, local/airport transport, one modest optional outing and contingency. It excludes match tickets, flights to the destination and major intercity or international moves. All columns are in euros for comparison, including the Morocco spending allowance; actual Moroccan purchases may be in dirhams and need the exchange rate and fees applicable when paid. These are three spending scenarios, not a claim that every Moroccan city is cheaper than every Spanish or Portuguese city.
| Cost item | Spain example | Portugal example | Morocco example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seven-night hotel share | €350–700 | €280–630 | €210–490 |
| Meals for seven days | €210–350 | €175–315 | €140–280 |
| Airport and local transport | €60–130 | €50–120 | €50–140 |
| Optional outing | €30–80 | €30–70 | €30–70 |
| Contingency | €130–260 | €120–230 | €100–220 |
| Local-stay subtotal | €780–1,520 | €655–1,365 | €530–1,200 |
| Match tickets / international travel | Add actual cost | Add actual cost | Add actual cost |
🇪🇸 Spain example: €780–1,520 before tickets and arrival travel
The hotel assumption is a complete room of €100–200 per night, split between two people. Meals are allowed at €30–50 a day. This can be a starting model for a moderate one-base trip, but a premium city-center property or a high-demand match week can exceed it. Replace the assumption with actual offers when the relevant dates become bookable.
🇵🇹 Portugal example: €655–1,365 on the same basis
Here the hotel assumption is €80–180 per room per night, with €25–45 daily for meals. The saving depends on the real city, room and match dates, not the national flag. Lisbon and Porto need separate accommodation searches if you use both; an intercity rail move is an addition to this one-base model.
🇲🇦 Morocco example: €530–1,200 on the same basis
The hotel assumption is €60–140 per room per night and the meal allowance is €20–40 daily. The larger transport range leaves room for different local transfer choices. A resort hotel, private driver or distant stadium approach can change that substantially; do not interpret the low end as an all-inclusive football package.
4. Hotel location can matter more than a lower nightly rate
Choose the hotel after mapping the actual match venue and ticket dates. A transport-linked city base is a useful research starting point, but a railway station hotel is not automatically close to the stadium. Compare the full stay, final local taxes, breakfast, actual beds and cancellation conditions. While 2030 inventory is not normally something to judge from a present-day search, current properties can help explain the kind of location you would shortlist later. Their names below are examples, not promised tournament availability or rates.
🏨 Madrid: Only YOU Hotel Atocha as a rail-linked example
The property is by Atocha and the museum/Retiro side of central Madrid. It illustrates a convenient city-and-rail location, not necessarily the price band in the Spain budget or the best stadium commute. Once match venues are settled, compare the actual journey with a hotel on the more useful local transport line.
🛏️ Lisbon: Moxy Lisboa Oriente as another location model
This is in Parque das Nações by the Oriente district, rather than the old-town streets around Baixa. It can illustrate a transport-focused base for an arrival or rail move. It is not a promise of a direct walk to a World Cup stadium, and its eventual room quote should be compared with central alternatives.
🚉 Casablanca: ibis Casa-Voyageurs for a station-area comparison
The hotel is beside the Casa-Voyageurs station area. That is useful for thinking about rail arrivals and domestic moves, while stadium access remains a separate route. Compare it with an actual venue-linked option when the match assignment is known; a station address alone should not decide the whole week.
5. Transport costs: one base, two cities or three countries
The simplest cost control is reducing hotel changes. A one-base week needs airport and local journeys; a two-city trip adds an intercity ticket, station transfers and a luggage/check-in day. A three-country route introduces international legs with their own baggage and connection risks. Spain and Portugal should not be treated as one seamless fast-rail network, and Morocco requires a real cross-border journey. Price each leg separately rather than multiplying an ordinary metro fare by the number of places on the map.
🚆 Within Spain, price the actual rail itinerary
Renfe currently offers Madrid–Barcelona high-speed travel. That makes it a useful route to research, not a guarantee of a particular 2030 departure or fare. Include the station-to-hotel journey at both ends and leave room around a paid match. A cheaper ticket with restrictive changes can become expensive when the route depends on an unsettled fixture.
🚆 Portugal and Morocco each have their own booking system
CP lists Alfa Pendular and other Portuguese train services, while ONCF provides Moroccan rail booking and timetable information. Use the correct station names and real route when comparing costs. A hotel near Oriente or Casa-Voyageurs can help with a domestic move, but it does not remove the airport or stadium transfer.
✈️ Cross-border travel deserves its own day and budget
Compare the full journey, including bags, check-in, airport/station travel and the destination’s final local leg. Do not promise a future direct flight, ferry connection or night train from a current map. If adding a country consumes a large share of the budget and a whole holiday day, one extra city in the first country may be better value.
6. A seven-night itinerary that keeps spending predictable
For an early budget, use one city base with two potential match days and a free day between them. Day 1 is arrival and local orientation. Days 2 and 5 are placeholders for matches only after real tickets establish the dates. Use Days 3 and 6 for one compact sightseeing route each, Day 4 for a flexible local day or an affordable excursion, and Day 8 for departure after seven hotel nights. Rearrange the sequence to actual fixtures; it is not an official match schedule.
📆 Do not make a transfer day a tight match day
A delayed train or flight can turn a saving into a missed ticket. Arrive before a must-see fixture where possible. If switching cities, count the bags, hotel checkout and new check-in rather than assuming you can spend the same hours sightseeing as on a settled day.
🍽️ Use ordinary meals between the expensive moments
An apartment-style breakfast, casual lunch or simple local restaurant can leave more of the budget for football. Pick one shared celebration with a clear menu ceiling. Do not assume every friend wants a premium dinner after every match, particularly when ticket spending differs.
🏙️ Choose a compact city outing
In Madrid, Atocha, Retiro and the museum district form one useful area to research. In Lisbon, choose a Baixa outing or a separate Parque das Nações day rather than crossing repeatedly. In Casablanca, organize a local route from the chosen hotel instead of making distant excursions compulsory. Paid visits need their own price and opening check.
7. How to turn the model into your own total
The practical calculation is local stay budget plus actual match-ticket basket plus travel to the destination plus any major route changes. For example, choose a €1,100 local-stay allowance, a personal ticket-spend ceiling of €450 and a quoted €350 arrival journey: the resulting planning envelope is €1,900 per person. The €450 is an arbitrary group decision for this example, not a forecast of 2030 ticket prices or a guarantee that your preferred matches fit it. Replace both ticket and travel placeholders before committing.
🧮 Use sensitivity instead of a false exact total
Adding €40 to the nightly room price adds €280 over seven nights, or €140 each for two sharing. Adding two nights at €160 per room adds €160 per person for lodging, before those extra days of meals and transport. These simple changes explain the budget more honestly than quoting one supposedly exact tournament cost.
💰 Set a saving target and a cash-flow plan
If the group chooses a €1,500 target over 36 saving months, €42 a month produces €1,512. A €2,500 target at €70 a month produces €2,520. Those are saving examples, not trip-price forecasts. Money may be needed at different times for tickets, deposits and final room payment, so note those deadlines separately.
💳 A refundable booking can still tie up money
Read whether a room is pay-now, pay-later or subject to a card authorization. A cancellation promise does not always mean an immediate refund. The booking owner needs enough available funds and a repayment agreement; avoid assuming one friend can finance everyone’s tickets and rooms until the trip.
8. Group rules that stop the budget drifting
Agree a minimum shared trip and keep upgrades optional. That minimum might include the same seven hotel nights, essential local travel and one group meal, while match tickets follow each person’s chosen basket. Friends can share a destination without all buying the same expensive session or extending to another country. Establish the policy before the first sale or hotel deadline, when decisions are calm, rather than resolving fairness after one person has paid a nonrefundable bill.
🤝 Split room nights by actual use
Record who shares each room and for which nights. A friend leaving two nights early should not automatically pay for a longer stay they did not agree to. A solo-room preference is different from a compulsory shared upgrade, and a room that permits three adults may have an extra-person charge.
🧾 Keep personal and shared spending distinct
A taxi is divided among its passengers; drinks and separate attractions stay personal unless explicitly shared. Record the original currency and the actual converted payment where relevant. Avoid settling a large Morocco bill from a remembered exchange rate or assuming everyone paid the same card fees.
📱 Make the decision visible in FlowTrip
Compare one-base and two-city options with their complete assumptions. Vote on the accommodation standard and spending ceiling, then save ticket holders, hotel owners, payment deadlines and refund terms together. When official fixtures and sales arrive, update the unknown lines instead of rewriting the entire plan from a group chat.
Frequently asked questions
How much will a World Cup 2030 trip cost?
The illustrative seven-night local-stay examples are €530–1,520 per person across the three countries, with two sharing. Match tickets, flights and major intercity moves are additional; these are planning assumptions, not quotes.
Are 2030 ticket prices included?
No. No verified 2030 general-admission price grid is used here. Add the actual official ticket basket when available.
Is Morocco guaranteed to be the cheapest option?
No. The scenarios use different hotel and meal allowances. The real city, match dates, accommodation and transfers determine the comparison.
Can I visit all three main hosts in one week?
It is possible to cross borders, but doing so adds cost and takes time away from football and sightseeing. A one-base week or a longer multi-country trip is easier to budget.
